Revenue official accused of taking bribe suspended

KALAIGAON, July 5 - The Land Revenue department of the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) has suspended Nomal Chandra Daimari, who was working as a Latmondal in the Harisinga revenue circle, Tangla, after a video showed him allegedly taking a bribe.

A video surfaced recently where Daimari was allegedly seen taking a bribe of Rs 10,000 in the office premises, in a land allotment case. The video was released in the social media and news channels on June 27.

Meanwhile, Daimari told media persons that he was innocent and was made a scapegoat as he was directed to take the money on behalf of other officials. The Udalguri district administration has announced that an inquiry would be conducted into the matter to track all those involved in the bribery case.
