DIMAPUR, Nov 7 - In the repoll at two polling stations in Nagaland today, the No. 11 centre at Singrep village recorded a 74.7 per cent turnout. Polling station No. 8 at Kipongya Ward �A� in Kiphire town recorded 69.5 per cent voting. Repoll was ordered by the Election Commission of India at the two polling stations under the Pungro-Kiphire Assembly constituency in Kiphire district after the by-election held on November 3.
Voting was peaceful in both the polling stations amid tight security and without any untoward incident, an official release stated. It said adequate security was provided for the electoral exercise. The Election Commission had ordered repoll in the two polling stations on the basis of reports submitted and after taking all material circumstances into account, Nagaland Chief Electoral Officer Abhijit Sinha had said on November 5.
Besides the Pungro-Kiphire Assembly constituency, bypoll was also held for the Southern Angami seat in Kohima district on November 3. The bypolls in the two constituencies recorded over 88 per cent voting. Counting of votes will be taken up on November 10.
