GUWAHATI, July 14 - During the ongoing summer vacation, the Barpeta district administration, Office of the Sub-Divisional Officer (Civil), Bajali and Samagra Siksha Abhiyan have initiated a volunteer-led campaign called Mission Xahajog to provide remedial teaching under the concept of joyful learning environment to the children of lower and upper primary government schools within the district, a press release stated.

The objective of this initiative is to offer additional help to children who, for one reason or another, have fallen behind the rest of the class in the subjects of basic numerics and language.

Remedial instruction can help struggling learners shore up their basic skills. This extra support can help them catch up with their peers, thereby extending the concept of peer learning.

The entire process has been designed with a motive to minimise the gap between what a student knows and what he is expected to know. There are 300 active volunteers who are offering their services by catering to around 400 schools across the district.

The ultimate aim of launching Mission Xahajog is to bridge the teaching and learning gaps which will help students to learn to the best of their ability and to participate confidently in the mainstream classes as far as possible.
