GAURIPUR, June 25 - The three hundred fifty years old Rath Yatra of Lord Shrikrishna of the historic Ram Raikuti Satra of Satrasal situated along the Indo-Bangladesh border in Dhubri sector was celebrated today with a day-long programme with the participation of nearly fifteen thousand devotees coming from various parts of the district and North Bengal.
On the auspicious occasion the devotees cleaned the entire premises of the historic Satra early in the morning and was followed by naam-kirtan by the male and female devotees of the Satra. The idol of Lord Shri Krishna and his brother Balaram made of brass metal were taken out from the Manikut and was taken to the Daulgriha for worship.
After performing all the rituals of Puja the idols of Lord Krishna and Balaram were taken out and placed in the decorated brass chariot donated by Bir Chilarai, the great general of Cooch Kingdom and tied up with a strong rope and the devotees drew the chariot to the Ghunuchabari situated half a km away from the Satra and the chariot will remain there for seven days and daily puja and other rituals will also be performed along side. A big mela was also organised. Rath Yatra was also held at Gauripur.
