GUWAHATI, June 11 - A heart surgery team of GNRC led by senior heart surgeon Dr Sunil Dawka, recently conducted the regions first surgery to rectify a rare heart defect known as ruptured sinus of valsalva (RSOV) aneurysm. The complex prcedure was conducted on a 32-year-old patient.

RSOV is a rare defect which can be congenital or acquired and has an incidence of 0.14 to 0.35 per cent, with a higher incidence in Asia.
