Rani Gaidinliu centenary celebrated

DIMAPUR, Nov 4 - Rani Gaidinliu Birth Centenary celebration was organised by Zeliangrong Baudi Nagaland on Tuesday at Peren in Nagaland with Union Minister for Road, Transport, Shipping & Highways Nitin Gadkari as the chief guest.

Speaking on the occasion, Gadkari stated that �all our warriors� have fought for freedom with courage, pride and efficiency. �The Government of India has recognised their great contribution and Rani Gaidinliu was one of them,� he said.

Gadkari said that strong political will and developmental activities will overcome corruption and poverty in society. �You can donate eyes but cannot donate vision� he said and stated that people itself is vital for change. �India is a rich nation with poor population� where education can overcome this.

The Union Minister promised construction of 181 km Maram to Dimapur via Peren road will be started before March 31 next year. He further promised 10,000 kms of road for Nagaland in the next phase.

Nagaland Governor PB Acharya stated that every village and every place has a hero who fought for India�s freedom. Rani Gaidinliu also fought against British imperialism and we should all be proud of the contribution made by her.

Chief Minister TR Zeliang stated some of the historical facts about Rani Gaidinliu. He appealed the gathering to let good sense prevail among Naga brothers and forgive and forget the episodes of 50 years back. He also made a fervent appeal to respect each others religion and be a good follower of one�s own faith because India is a secular State.
