DIBRUGARH, Oct 8 - The tea garden workers led by Assam Sangrami Chah Shramik Sangha (ASCSS) today took out a rally from Dibrugarh Town Railway Station to the office of the Assistant Labour Commissioner in support of their demand for immediate implementation of the proposed composite daily wage of Rs 351.33.

The workers holding placards and banners marched peacefully from the railway station amid a huge traffic. The only demand raised by the workers was that the proposed wage hike be enforced without further delay.

They later submitted a memorandum to the Secretary, Labour and Employment Department, through the Assistant Labour Commissioner here. The workers have tried to explain about the daily expenses of a family in the memorandum. They have said that managing a family with mere daily wage of Rs 167 is impossible.

The rally was led by ASCSS leaders Mira Tanti, Ghanashyam Munda, Kunti Tanti and others. CPI (ML) leader Bitupan Bokolial also took part in the rally.
