Rajnath to visit State today

NEW DELHI, July 29 - Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, accompanied by Minister of State for Home Affairs Kiren Rijiju, would be making an aerial survey of the flood-affected areas of Assam and Arunachal Pradesh on Saturday.

According to sources, Singh, who would be joined by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal in Guwahati, is scheduled to make aerial survey of the flood-affected areas of Nagaon, Morigaon and Kaziranga tomorrow. He will also be visiting Bhagatgaon camp of flood-affected residents in Morigaon district.

Singh will hold a meeting with Sonowal and other State government officials in Guwahati before returning to Delhi in the evening, said official sources.

Rijiju would be making aerial survey of the flood-affected areas in Namsai and East Siang districts of Arunachal Pradesh, said sources.

Meanwhile, NDRF sources said that the flood rescue and evacuation operation by its personnel in various flood-hit areas is in full swing. At least 13 flood rescue teams are deployed in Assam to meet the challenges.

Meanwhile, in the Lok Sabha, Radhay Shyam Biswa of AIUDF said that the flood situation in Assam has worsened as 19 districts with 16 lakh population have been affected.
