Rail construction works crippled in Manipur

IMPHAL, July 10 - The railway construction works in Manipur particularly in Marangching area under Tamenglong district have been crippled since the last few weeks due to a ban on the projects imposed by affected farmers, according to reports.

The affected farmers of Marangching area highlighted their grievances before the media here on Sunday. Around 10 private companies are engaged in the 98-km broad gauge railway line construction between Jiribam and Tupul in Manipur. The farmers alleged that most of their paddy fields were damaged badly due to the ongoing earth works.
