IMPHAL, May 10 The proposed general strike by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) against the murder of Seitinlal Kipgen and Tonkhosat Haokip, scheduled to begin at 4 pm today has been suspended following an understanding between the striking bodies and the Manipur Government this afternoon.

Sources said that the JAC had called an indefinite Sadar Hills bandh in protest against the killings by unidentified persons after being reportedly abducted on April 29.

The decision came following a meeting with JAC, Kuki Students Organisation and Dy CM Gaikhangam this afternoon. He assured the joint team that the involved persons will be booked within a shortest possible time besides giving ex-gratia and suitable jobs to the next of kin.
