GUWAHATI, March 6 Ladies of Seujee Enclave on Sunday initiated a programme on management and recycling of solid biodegradable kitchen waste. The workshop was facilitated by Swabalambi, a Sonapur-based NGO along with waste management resource person Elias Narzari.

The demonstration was a simple process of decomposing kitchen waste into organic manure and liquid disinfectant. Every household could easily adopt this technique, once acquainted with the process.

It was pointed out that if similar awareness campaigns were carried out in all apartment buildings and households in Guwahati, it would contribute positively to the management of the citys garbage disposal problem.

Some members of the recently-formed citizens forum named Clean Guwahati Beautiful Guwahati were present and endorsed the initiative, as they firmly believe garbage management begins in individual households first and then to the streets of the city at large.

Sushismita Mazumdar, chairperson of Swabalambi, was present at the workshop, among others.
