GUWAHATI, Dec 28 - A Kalam Programme for Intellectual Property Literacy and Awareness (KAPILA) was organised by the Royal School of Law and Administration in association with the Royal Global University�s Institution Innovation Council (IIC-RGU) and the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam in the seminar hall of the RGU here today, said a press release.
Taking part in the programme, Dr Shankar Sundaram, IPR-Chair Professor, National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam spoke at length about the use of patent technology, its benefits and vices, India�s Patent Act, the offices of Indian intellectual property and the vital role played by technological innovation support centres.
Dr Sundaram also spoke about other technical details like forms and other official documents involved, types of patents, validity of patents, the impact of the RTI Act on patent formulation and information, importance of novelty in patent registrations and other intrinsic details.
RGU Vice Chancellor Prof SP Singh elaborated on the importance of the knowledge of intellectual property rights academically as well as in day-to-day life. He classified intellect as the highest level of power, even bearing the might to be held superior to military power.
Throwing light on RGU�s formulation of policies, Prof Singh further laid emphasis on putting up valuable inventions in public domain instead of restricting access to them.
Prof Alak Kumar Buragohain, Chairperson Academic extended the vote of thanks by urging everyone to make the most of their uniquely endowed facility - the human ability and the property of thought, the release added.
