Preparations for Durga Puja on in Biswanath

BISWANATH CHARIALI, Oct 13 - Along with the rest of the State, the Durga Puja fever has gripped the people of Biswanth district too, comprising Biswanath and Gohpur sub-divisions.

Around 200 puja mandaps have been decorated with various designs and lights by the enthusiastic devotees. Puja is going to be held at several places and tea gardens of the district, including Biswanath Chariali, Gohpur, Halem, Borgang, Bedeti, Ginjia, Chatiya, Nagshankar, Kalyani (Gambhar)

Mandir etc.

The puja committees have almost completed their preparations to hold the puja smoothly. The shops too are thronged by shoppers from morning to evening to buy new outfits.

Meanwhile, the Biswanath district administration has made preparations to maintain law and order. Security has been tightened and additional police forces have been deployed in sensitive areas. A central Durga Puja Control Committee was formed with veteran social worker Jiten Bhagawati as president and Anjan Borah as general

secretary.

�Adhyatmik Mela� organised by Prajapita Brahmakumari Ishwariya Vishya Vidyalaya will be held at the Lakshidhar Kshetra here from October 14 to 18. Chaitanya Nava Durga and the world famous 12 �Jyotir Lingas� will be showcased during the programme which will be inaugurated by Sootea MLA Padma Hazarika while Rajyogini Sister Sheela, Director of NE India and Bangladesh and Rajyogini Sister Jonali, incharge of Nalbari and Barpeta districts will be present as chief guest and distinguished speaker

respectively.

Biswanath MLA Pramod Borthakur, Prabin Hazarika, Biswanath DC Dhiraj Jyoti Kalita, Superintendent of Police Diganta K Choudhury, among others, will also be present at the inaugural function. Other programmes include free health camp, yoga camp, spiritual photo exhibition, etc.
