KARIMGANJ, April 27 The poor state of physical and social infrastructure is a primary bottleneck not only for the tea industry here but also for the all-round development of Barak Valley, reports PTI.

Tea Association of India, Barak Valley branch chairman, PK Mishra said the deplorable condition of roads and bridges, non-completion of conversion to broad gauge railways as well as the East-West Corridor and erratic power supply is a perennial problem of the valley.

As a result, the tea industry of Barak Valley, the mainstay of the region, has been facing multiple problems in its expansion.
