NORTH LAKHIMPUR, April 7 � An IRBN jawan was electrocuted in Lakhimpur district on Monday evening. The tragic incident occurred in Ghilamora PS under Dhakuwakhana sub-division, some 50 kms south-east from here when Bikiuddin Ahmed (30), a jawan of 22nd IRBN climbed up a tree to cut one of its branches.
As the policeman was cutting the branch, a 11 KV power cable, which passes over the tree, fell on the tree accidentally. Ahmed was rushed to the Ghilamora Public Health Centre where he was declared �brought dead�. Hailing from Sisiborgaon in Dhemaji district, Bikiuddin Ahmed�s sudden death has been widely mourned. A condolence meeting was held inside the Ghilamora police station in which the police department personnel, home guards and local public paid homage to the deceased and expressed their condolences to the bereaved family.
