Poaching gang busted

GUWAHATI, March 5 - In a major breakthrough, a joint team of City Police, forest guards and CRPF today busted a poachers' gang inside the Garbhanga Reserve Forest and seized a large cache of weapons and other war-like stores from their possession.

Four poachers were arrested while around six others managed to flee, the police said.

�They had set up a camp inside the forest. Based on an input received by the Forest department, we busted it and destroyed the stores. Four SBBL guns, a large number ammunition, sharp weapons, rations, etc., were seized from the poachers,� Gorchuk police station OC Ranjit Das said. The gang had entered the forest about three/ four days back and were camping there with an intention to poach animals.
