DIBRUGARH, Jan 22 - Prime Minister Narendra Modi will formally commission the new 50,000-ton per annum capacity wax production unit of the Numaligarh Refinery Limited on February 5. He will do this via a video uplink from Dibrugarh, it is learnt.

According to a top NRL functionary, the Rs 600 crore wax plant of the NRL has been indigenously designed by scientists from the Indian Institute of Petroleum, which is a unit of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research. The project was executed by Engineers India Limited.

A significant Make in India endeavour, the country will save a lot of foreign exchange with the wax unit going on stream. Currently, India imports wax from China and Iran.
