GUWAHATI, Dec 14 � The lone Rajya Sabha seat for which the election is scheduled for December 22 is virtually won by Congress� Pankaj Bora. For, Bora�s nomination papers were found valid, while the nomination papers submitted by Independent Jeshim Raja were rejected by Returning Officer GP Das.
Speaking to this newspaper, Das, who is also the Secretary of the State Legislative Assembly, said Jeshim Raja�s papers were rejected on the ground that nobody proposed his name as a candidate.
Meanwhile, the results of the RS election could be declared on December 15, the date fixed for withdrawal of nomination as there is no second contestant for the seat that has fallen vacant due to the untimely demise of Silvius Condpan.
