Padmanath Gohai Baruah remembered

DHUBRI, Dec 27 - Members of the Dhubri district branch of Sahitya Sabha recently organised a memorial programme to remember the contributions of Assam Sahitya Sabha�s founder president Padmanath Gohai Baruah.

In an open meeting and discussion programme held at the Baghmari ME School playground, the dignitaries stressed the need for making people aware of the teachings of Baruah who had enormous contributions not only in the literary field but also in the sociocultural life of the people of the State.

Another discussion programme was held under the aegis of the literary body in the Dhubri Sahitya Sabha Hall where the former principal of BN College, Gerindranath Goswami addressed the gathering and highlighted different contributions of the �Pitamaha� of Assamese literature.

Goswami also spoke about the relevance of the teachings of Baruah in today�s life and the things that the youths could derive from the poetries, novels, dramas, etc., written by him.
