Over 30 villages in Dhemaji inundated

DHEMAJI, May 23 - Incessant rain at the catchment areas of Arunachal Pradesh and in the district since Thursday night has caused Jiadhal river to flow in spate, thus inundating many villages in Dhemaji district since Friday night.

The surging waters of Jiadhal river which entered through the breached portion of Jiadhal embankment have affected more than 30 villages in Jiadhal and West Dhemaji areas under Dhemaji Revenue Circle submerging almost all the fields of �Ahu� and �Bow� paddy in the areas. The flood waters have flooded houses and courtyards of many a families in the flood-affected areas.

The most affected villages in the areas include No. 1 Gheyari, Dulungkan, Jiadhal Chariali, Bhajugaon, Bherekichuck, Sarudhekera, Changmaibari, Hatipara, Boruah Pathar, Bordalapa, Kekuri, Amulguri, Kachari Pathar.
