Over 25 injured in bus accident at Udharbond

SILCHAR, July 4 - More than 25 passengers, including four women and three minors are injured after a bus bearing registration number AS11C-3179 overturned while coming to Silchar from Udharbond on Monday morning.

According to police, the accident took place at 6 Mile on the way to Silchar when the bus driver lost control and the vehicle skidded on an open field adjacent to the road.

The injured were rushed to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. The minors injured in the accident include Mehbub Alam Laskar (6), Mallika Goswami (9) and Abhijit Goswami, a student of Class-II.

54-year-old Kanailal Paul and another Zayed Ali also sustained serious injuries. Among the injured, five are reported to be in critical condition.

Meanwhile, Mihir Kanti Shome, MLA of Udharbond reached the spot along with cadres of BJP Yuva Morcha. Shome blamed the pot-holed road for the mishap.
