NORTH LAKHIMPUR, June 23 - A record room for storing court documents with optimizer system was inaugurated at the judicial complex of North Lakhimpur. The system is first of its kind in the entire North East region of India which will preserve court documents for at least 20 years without any damage due to weather and dampness.
The system was inaugurated by Justice Imtiyaz Ali, the District and Sessions Judge, Lakhimpur on Saturday. A meeting was held on the occasion at the Judicial Complex, North Lakhimpur, which was attended by judges Deepali Bhuyan, Mukul Chetia, Jaspal Singh and Dhebar Gohain Baruah, president, North Lakhimpur Bar Association.
In a related incident, the Sessions Court and a Special Magistrate Court in North Lakhimpur sentenced a Deputy Commissioner of neighbouring Arunachal Pradesh to five years imprisonment and a fine of Rs 2 crore for a scam in PDS supply. The court on Friday sentenced Dr NN Osik alias N Legu, Deputy Commissioner, Siang district of Arunachal Pradesh for his involvement in the PDS supply from 2002 to 2004 when he was the Director of Food and Civil Supplies of Arunachal Pradesh.
