GUWAHATI, Feb 27 - A small trader was killed in a major fire in the city�s Narengi area this evening.
The fire broke out at around 4 pm in a fast food joint called Lajij. �The fire apparently started from a short-circuit. It spread to a nearby shoe store, a restaurant, a hardware shop and a paan shop,� Noonmati police station OC Rajib Saikia said.
Gagan Kalita (35), a paan shop owner, was killed in the devastating fire. A cylinder explosion was also reported during the incident. Four fire-tenders were rushed to the spot and the fire was brought under control in about 45 minutes.
