GUWAHATI, Feb 2 - With an aim to propagate the importance of fuel conservation and efficient energy utilisation amongst the citizens, Sanrakshan Kshamta Mahotsav (SAKSHAM) 2020: OIL-SAKSHAM #Fit India Walkathon was organised here today.
The walkathon was organised to create awareness among people about fuel conservation, environment protection and promote the health usage of walking.
The event was flagged off from Shastri Maidan, Pipeline Headquarters, Oil India Limited, Narengi at 8.30 am by Samir Kumar Das, Executive Director-Pipeline Services, Oil India Limited.
�This is a unique experience where we are promoting not only the cause of a greener planet but also a fit India. A healthy nation is a wealthy nation. So it is an emphasis on building a community that is aware about its fuel conservation responsibilities and holistically moving towards a more environment friendly habits. The walking habits are growing in our city and it provides us with a great opportunity to achieve environmental consciousness amongst people. Our endeavour as organisers of SAKSHAM #Fit India Walkathon is to provide an enriching experience to the participants and commit them in taking a pledge for a healthy environment. In line with the �Fit India� movement, with this walkathon it is a hope to inspire Guwahatians to lead a healthier lifestyle,� Das said.
Indrajit Kaman, Joint Director and SRO, Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA), Guwahati and other senior officials of Oil India Limited were present in the event.
