DIMAPUR, Oct 23 - Despite differences over the proposed celebration commemorating 100 years of Naga Club, the Naga Students Federation (NSF) reaffirmed its decision to go ahead with the celebration at Naga Solidarity Park in Kohima on October 31.
In a release on Tuesday, the federation said the decision to this effect was taken at its presidential council meeting in Kohima on Monday. It asserted that the initiative was by no means an attempt to claim ownership of the Naga Club but simply a celebration of the legacy of Naga Club.
The meeting, attended by leaders of 20 student bodies, appealed to all Nagas, especially the students, to join the celebration.
The Kohima Village Council (KVC) said it was deeply disturbed by the news of twin centennial celebration of Naga Club by the NSF and the erstwhile Naga Club members and decided not to take part in either of the celebratory programme.
