ITANAGAR, Mar 19 (PTI): The NSCN-K head from Tirap district in Arunachal Pradesh, a self-styled 'brigadier' Chipu Menon alias Khunwang, was killed in Mon district of Nagaland, police sources said here today.

Khunwang was reportedly killed by another Khaplang cadre using a blunt object near Mon town gate on Thursday, the sources said.

Khungwang was probably summoned by higher-ups from Tirap to Mon to sort out issues related to organisational management which included disciplinary matters and financial management, the sources disclosed.

"Earlier on couple of occasions, Khungwang was warned to abide by the organisational discipline.

However, he failed to heed which resulted in his killing," informed a source.

Khungwang joined the NSCN-K in 1995 and gradually worked his way up to become a major leader within the organisation.
