DIMAPUR, Feb 28 - The joint council of the NSCN (I-M) has reaffirmed that recognition of the Naga national flag and constitution is absolutely a matter of Nagas right for an honourable political solution as they represent the national identity of the Nagas.

The joint council, comprising the outfits collective leadership, members of the collective leadership, steering executive members, steering committee members, kilonsers (ministers), tatars (MPs), among others, held an emergency meeting at its central headquarters at Camp Hebron on Thursday and deliberated on the Indo-Naga political talks, according to a release issued by the ministry of information and publicity of the outfit.

The meeting reaffirmed the September 3, 2019 decision of its Tatar Hoho (house of MPs) and July 23, 2019 decision of the collective leadership to uphold the August 3, 2015 framework agreement signed between the Centre and the NSCN (I-M). It also resolved that the political solution should be for the Nagas wherever they are.

It is our bounden duty to uphold the unique history and sovereign rights of the Naga people that is in consonance with the historic 1951 Plebiscite, it resolved.

The meeting also resolved to uphold the mandate of the Naga people, given to the NSCN on January 21, 2005, to conclude an honourable solution to the Indo-Naga political issue and the unification of all Naga areas.

It stressed that the political talks between the Government of India and the NSCN must move forward in the spirit of mutual respect.

The meeting resolved that the NSCN would continue to endeavour to conclude an honourable political solution that is acceptable to the Naga people.

The NSCN (I-M) condemned the double standard policy of the Centre in the strongest terms and cautioned it against using its agencies, including the NIA, to arrest and harass the members of the outfit who have been in political negotiations for the past 22 years.
