NRL organises Cyclothon at Jorhat

GUWAHATI, Dec 11 - The Numaligarh Refinery Limited (NRL) organised the Jorhat Cyclothon yesterday under the aegis of Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) to promote awareness on fuel conservation, pollution and health consciousness, stated a release.

More than 500 cyclists from Jorhat and nearby towns participated in the rally which was flagged at the Jorhat Stadium by Dr Tapan Dutta, ex-Director Assam Agriculture University, Jorhat. DC Jorhat, Director (Technical), NRL BJ Phukan along with SP Jorhat were also present on the occasion.

The event propagates the message of SAKSHAM � an awareness campaign driven by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas on the conservation of petroleum products of the country. It is a part of Prime Minister�s call to the citizens to stop using Petrol or Diesel-based mode of transport once a week and instilling higher participation in conservation activities by encouraging usage of non-fuel mode of transport mainly cycling. Cyclothons are being conducted at capitals, major cities of the country covering 76 cities.
