Noted historian NK Barooah to attend Press Club prog today

GUWAHATI, Oct 22 - Eminent historian Professor Nirode K Barooah will attend the �Guest of the Month� programme of the Guwahati Press Club (GPC) on Tuesday.

The interactive session with the author of Chatto: The Life and Times of an Anti-Imperialist in Europe; Gopinath Bardoloi, the Assam problem and Nehru�s centre; India and the Official Germany, 1886-1914 (European University Studies); Germany and the Indians; David Scott in North-East India, etc., will start at 3 pm.

Born in 1937, Dr Barooah completed his doctorate degree in modern history from London University (1964) as well as from Bonn University (1977). Currently living in Germany, the prominent Assamese scholar has done extensive historical research in diverse fields and different periods and published many books and papers.

Some of the areas of Prof Barooah�s research include the earliest British administrators in Assam and their administrative ideas, the German-Indian relations during 1886-1945, the Gopinath Bardoloi period of Assam�s history, etc.
