Non-Cong States oppose NCTC

NEW DELHI, March 12 � Six non-Congress-ruled states today strongly opposed the proposed national counter-terror agency on the ground that it has unbridled powers over the State police which was not acceptable.

Officials of Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Odisha ,Tamil Nadu, Chhattisgarh and Karnataka opposed the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC) at the high-level meeting chaired by Home Secretary RK Singh here today in which States� Chief Secretaries, Home Secretaries and Police Chiefs were present.

Support for the NCTC came from Congress-ruled States, sources said. � PTI
