No case of crime against SCs in 5 NE States

NEW DELHI, Oct 12 - Five Northeastern States � Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh � did not report a single case of crime against members of the Schedule Caste community in 2015, according to National Crime Records Bureau data.

The nationwide figure registered a decline of 4.51 per cent from 47,064 in 2014 to 45,003 in 2015.

Uttar Pradesh reported the highest number of cases, followed by Rajasthan (6,998), Bihar (6,438) and Andhra Pradesh (4,415).

There was also no case of crime against SCs in Union Territories of Andaman and Nicobar islands, Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Lakshadweep in 2015.

Assam, Tripura, Goa, West Bengal, Uttrakhand, Kerala, Punjab and Haryana reported minimal number of such cases. � PTI
