Night curfew along int�l border in Garo Hills

TURA, July 11 - District Magistrate of West Garo Hills has issued an order under Section 144 CrPC prohibiting movement of people and vehicles during night time from 6 pm to 5 am along the border with Bangladesh.

The District Magistrate said the order has been issued in view of the presence of international border under West Garo Hills district which is prone to trans-border crimes such as smuggling of cattle and contraband goods such as Phensidyl, Yaba tablets, Ganja, liquor, etc.

The order also apprehended that persons linked with extremist organisations are likely to infiltrate into the district from adjoining district of Bangladesh. Accordingly, all movement of persons and vehicles between 6 pm to 5 am each night has been banned in the entire area lying within a distance of 500 metres from the international border with Bangladesh in West Garo Hills district, the order said.
