NIA chief arrives in State

GUWAHATI, Jan 6 � Director General of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) Sharad Kumar arrived in the State today on a three-day visit to review the progress of investigation into the cases related to the recent killing of more than 80 persons by militants belonging to the Songbijit faction of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB).

Immediately after his arrival in the city, Kumar held talks with the officials of the NIA involved in investigation of the cases. He also held talks with the Chief Minister, the Chief Secretary, the Director General of Police and other senior officials regarding the cases.

Tomorrow, Kumar will visit Sonitpur and hold discussions with the GoC of 4 Corps of the Army before proceeding to Biswanath Chariali where more than 40 persons were killed. He will also visit Kokrajhar.
