NFR observes level crossing awareness day

GUWAHATI, June 11 - The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) today observed the International Level Crossing Awareness Day.

Events were held on the occasion at the NFR�s Maligaon headquarters as well as across all the five divisions of the zone � Tinsukia, Lumding, Rangiya, Alipurdwar and Katihar, said Nripen Bhattacharya, Public Relations Officer (PRO) of NFR.

A mock drill was also conducted at the Maligaon manned level crossing gate in the Kamakhya-Guwahati section, along with a street play by the NFR Cultural Association.

The programme was conducted under the supervision of Pradip Kumar Hira, Deputy Chief Safety Officer (Mechanical), to create awareness among the road users about the rules and regulations regarding manned level crossing gates. The potential danger of wearing earphones while passing through a level crossing was also displayed in the mock drill.
