AIZAWL, Dec 31 � Celebrations for the coming New Year 2012 began in Mizoram tonight with prayer and worship services held at the houses of worship where memorial services were also held for those who died during this year.
The State Government has already banned firecrackers and fireworks for tonight and during the Christmas and New Year festivities to prevent pollution, both noise and air, official sources said.
Police said that one company and two sections of armed and a large number of unarmed policemen would be deployed in and around the Aizawl city to prevent any untoward incidents. � PTI
