New Manipur Guv sworn in

IMPHAL, Sept 30 - Meghalaya Governor V Shanmuganathan, who was given additional charge of Manipur following the death of incumbent Dr Syed Ahmed, was sworn in as Governor of Manipur at a solemn function held at Raj Bhavan here this afternoon. Chief Justice of High Court of Manipur Laxmi Kant Mohapatra administered the oath of office and secrecy to the 65 year-old former BJP leader.

Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh, Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam, Deputy Speaker MK Preshow Shimray, Cabinet Ministers, Parliamentary Secretaries, MLAs of ruling and opposition parties and high ranking civil and police officials were present at the ceremony.

Speaking to the media after the swearing in, the new Governor said �I am a man dedicated to the nation...I am always with the people.�
