SILCHAR, Sept 24 - Bikram Kairi, who is officiating as Additional Deputy Commissioner in Tinsukia district, has been promoted and transferred as Deputy Commissioner of Majuli district.
Kairi will take charge from the outgoing Deputy Commissioner Debaprasad Mishra who will join as Director, Department of Food and Civil Supplies.
Meanwhile, sharing his thoughts with The Assam Tribune on Monday, Bikram, who is presently at his native village at Majagram Tea Estate under Udharbond constituency of Cachar district said, �I am feeling really good about the upscaling. As an IAS officer, moments like this bring excitement together with a sense of bigger responsibilities. I believe I would be able use the opportunity to good effect and contribute much more to the people, society and nation at large.�
Asked about what would be his message to the young civil service aspirants, especially from Barak Valley, Bikram responded saying, �the journey is tough but exciting. Every day brings a new scope to deliver and contribute to the cause of the country. Despite the ebbs and flows, there are diverse areas of work and young talents should be up to the challenges.�
Talking about the island district, the new Deputy Commissioner said that working in river island Majuli would be a different kind of exposure for him.
�Majuli has its unique cultural and geographical identity. I am excited to join as soon as possible,� he maintained.
Meanwhile, soon after the news of Bikram�s promotion broke, great joy among people across southern Assam was observed.
A former student of JNV at Pailapool, Bikram was a part of the one-day workshop on APSC/UPSC examination organised by the JNV Alumni Association here on Saturday.
