NE entrepreneurs awarded

GUWAHATI, Jan 8 - The Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship felicitated entrepreneurs and individuals at the National Entrepreneurship Awards Ceremony 2018 by honouring 30 young entrepreneurs and three entrepreneurship ecosystem builders for their contribution towards nation building through entrepreneurship, at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre in New Delhi recently.

Among the national winners and models of excellence for the National Entrepreneurship Awards (NEA), five were from the North East. Each awardee received a cash price of Rs 5 lakh with a certificate and trophy, a press release stated.

They are Tana Sumpa (35) of Arunachal Pradesh who runs piggeries and fisheries, Dulu Moni Kalita (28) of Assam who mans the Moni Handicraft Centre, Rahul Baruah and Anupam Nath of Assam, founders of www.getkraft.in, an e-commerce platform dedicated to connecting artisans from various areas of the North East, Dr Vanramhlimpuii (32) of Mizoram, founder of M/s Zonu Meat Processing, and Maipaksana Rajkumar (38) of Manipur who indigenously designed and developed trolleys for lifting LPG cylinders and other heavy objects.

�IIT Guwahati-Technology Incubation Centre (IITG-TIC) which was appointed as the regional partner institute for the purpose with Prof Konjengbam as head did the exercise to reach out every possible corner of the north-eastern States and Sikkim in a very short time to promote and encourage young generation entrepreneurs to participate in the NEA Programme,� the release added.

The awards were conferred in the presence of Suresh Prabhu, Minister of Commerce and Industry and Civil Aviation, Anant Kumar Hegde, Minister of State for Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Dr KP Krishnan, Secretary, MSDE, and Jyotsna Sitling, Joint Secretary, MSDE.
