NDRF teams in action during Chhath Puja

GUWAHATI, Nov 21 - Five teams comprising 200 rescuers of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), including expert deep divers were deployed at different ghats including Kachari Ghat, Pandu Port Ghat and Palashbari Ghat on the bank of river Brahmaputra in Kamrup Metro and Kamrup districts to meet any exigency during Chhath Puja.

The NDRF teams under the supervision of Commandant 1st Battalion NDRF Guwahati R S Gill equipped with 30 inflatable motorboats, 10 deep diving sets, 300 life jackets, 100 lifebuoys, public address systems, search lights, oxygen cylinders, medical and other life saving equipment were deployed in different ghats to carry out search and rescue operations.

The NDRF rescuers also used megaphones to ask devotees to adhere to COVID safety protocol at the ghats.
