NC Hills bandh affects normal life

HAFLONG, June 20 � Normal life at Haflong, the district head quarters of Dima Hasao formerly known as NC Hills was totally disrupted today due to the 24 hours bandh called given by NC Hills Indigenous Students� Forum.

However, the bandh failed to have any impact in Umrangso, Maibang and Diyungmukh area of the district.

The bandh was called in demand of immediate bifurcation of the district with separate Autonomous Council under 3� of Article 244 (2) and 275 (1) of the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of India.

All financial institutions including market, educational institutions remained closed. Vehicles were off the road and even the train service between Lumding�Badarpur section was suspended. No untoward incident was reported.
