Naval chief visits Tawang

GUWAHATI, Oct 24 - Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Sunil Lanba visited the forward areas of Tawang Sector on Line of Actual Control in Arunachal Pradesh today. The Admiral, while on a short tour was updated on the security situation along the border areas by Maj Gen Rajesh Kumar Jha, General Officer Commanding, Ball of Fire Division.

Admiral Lanba, who is also the chairman, Chief of Staff Committee was accompained by his wife Reena Lanba for the two-day tour, a Defence spokesman said here.

During his interaction with troops, he lauded their efforts towards ensuring peace and tranquility along the Line of Actual Control, besides enhancing image of the armed forces amongst local populace by means of samaritan activities. He also paid homage to the martyrs of 1962 Operation at Tawang War Memorial, in remembering the superme sacrifice of 2,420 martyrs of the war in the sector.
