National meet of railway employees

GUWAHATI, Nov 8 - The 28th national convention of the National Federation of Indian Railwaymen (NFIR) will be held at the Maligaon Railway Stadium here from November 9 to 11, a press release stated.

The NFIR is the federation of zonal railway trade unions holding negotiations at the Railway Board since 1952. The NF Railway Employees� Union, an affiliate of NFIR, has been entrusted with the task of organising the convention.

The open session will be held on November 10 at 5.30 pm, which will be addressed by Railway Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu and Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain.

About 25,000 railwaymen from all over the country, including the NF Railway, will participate in the convention. During the meet, there will be discussions on the labour scenario and the future course of the trade union movement.
