Narrow escape for ferry passengers

GUWAHATI, Jan 1 � About sixty ferry passengers had a narrow escape this evening when the vessel they were travelling from North Guwahati around 6 pm struck the riverbed and they were stranded in the middle of the river.

Transport Department sources here said that the Jogighopa, one of the biggest vessels of the Inland Water Transport Department, which left North Guwahati around 6 pm, with around 60 passengers on board, got struck on the shallow river channel midway in its journey to the city.
