Nalbari women athletes emerge best

GUWAHATI, Feb 17 - Nalbari district occupied the top position in the Mukhya Mantrir Mahila Krira Pratiyogita (Chief Minister�s Women Sports Championship) which concluded here at the SAI Sports Complex today.

Nibedita Barman was adjudged best athlete in the championship which was organised by the Directorate of Sports ad Youth Welfare. For Nalbari, Nibedita won gold medal in 100m and 200m while Prerana Devi bagged gold in 800m and 1500m. Pramita Das won silver in 100m and bronze in 200m. The Nalbari team also won the 4x100m relay. Tinsukia came second in the meet.

In the closing ceremony, Lakhya Konwar, Member Secretary, SLAC for Student and Youth Welfare; Dharma Kanta Mili, Director, Sports and Youth Welfare; Subhash Basumatary, Director, SAI; Onkar Kedia, DG, SAA; Partha Pegu, Joint Director, S&YW and Kamaljit Talukdar, Joint Director, S&YW, Assam; among others were present and gave away the prizes.

ANN Service Nalbari adds: The Nalbari women�s team which occupied the top spot in the maiden edition of the Mukhya Mantrir Mahila Krira Pratiyogita, was hailed by the sporting fraternity of the district. Nalbari MLA Ashok Sarma , DC Bhrat Bhusan Dev Choudhury congratulated all members of the team for their laudable achievement.
