Nagaland institutions closed from today

DIMAPUR, March 16 - All educational institutions, including universities in Nagaland will remain closed from March 17 to April 12 in view of the coronavirus outbreak.

However, the ongoing CBSE, CISCE and other board examinations will be held as scheduled.

It was decided at a high-level meeting convened by Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio in his office in Kohima today. Beside the Chief Minister, the meeting was attended by Cabinet ministers, advisers, Chief Secretary Temjen Toy, Director General of Police T John Longkumer and administrative heads of departments.

It was also decided to ban entry of all tourists (foreign and domestic) into the state with effect from March 18 till further order.

The meeting decided that all entry points and check gates into the state will be manned and screened by manpower provided by the state police force. The manpower will be trained and provided with equipment by the Health and Family Welfare Department immediately.

The meeting decided to form a core committee called �Special Action Group� drawn from line departments to deal with Covid-19- related matters.

The citizens have been asked to avoid public gatherings.

The meeting also asked to put on hold official functions and programmes involving big gatherings, including mini hornbills.
