Nagaland gets 45 new ventilators from Centre

DIMAPUR, June 25 - Nagaland on Wednesday received 45 new ventilators from the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Earlier, 39 ventilators were available in the State � 13 at Dimapur, nine at Kohima and the rest in other districts of the State.

Expressing his gratitude to the Union Ministry, Nagaland Health Minister S Pangnyu Phom tweeted, �Thankful to the @MoHFW for allotment of 45 new ventilators to combat the COVID-19 pandemic. The facility will be distributed according to need basis, covering the entire districts of the State.�

Meanwhile, the second laboratory for COVID-19 sample testing, which will be opened on June 29, will further boost the fight against COVID-19 in the State. The biosafety level-2 (BSL-2) laboratory is being set up at the Christian Institute of Health Sciences and Research.

According to Phom, the laboratory will immediately become operational after its inauguration.
