Mukul Sobers passes away

GUWAHATI, May 29 � Noted former footballer of the State Mukul Sobers died at a private nursing home last night. He was 67. Sobers, one of the best goalkeeper of the State in the 70s and 80s, was an employee of Oil India Limited, Duliajan. He represented Assam in the Santosh Trophy on many occasions. Sobers also caught the attention of the national selectors for a place in the Indian squad. Assam Football Association and the football fraternity of the State have mourned the death of Sobers. Gauhati Town Club, for which Sobers played in the late 60s, has also condoled his demise. Sobers�s two sons � Tinku Sobers and Rinku Sobers � are State level athletes.
