NEW DELHI, Oct 4 - Thuingaleng Muivah, general secretary of the NSCN (I-M), has been admitted to a hospital here following complaints of abdominal pain, sources said on Wednesday. The 84-year-old Naga rebel leader was admitted to the private hospital on Tuesday and the doctors are keeping a close watch on his health condition.

Muivahs treatment is going on, the sources said without disclosing much.

Muivah was the signatory on behalf of the NSCN (I-M) to a framework agreement with the Government in 2015 to end the decades-old Naga insurgency. The Naga leaders long time associate, the outfits chairman Isak Chishi Swu, passed away in 2016. SS Khaplang, the leader of NSCN (I-M)s rival group NSCN-K, too died in 2017, leading to a split in that outfit.

The NSCN (I-M) has been engaged in peace talks with the interlocutor of the Central Government since 1997 when it announced a ceasefire agreement after a bloody insurgency movement which started in Nagaland soon after the countrys Independence. PTI
