SILCHAR, Nov 30 - Gritty batting from skipper Ajay Rohera and middle order batsman Salman Khan helped Madhya Pradesh post 209 for five at stumps on day one of the Col CK Nayudu Trophy match against Assam at the SM Dev Stadium here.

Put in to bowl, speedster Dharani Rabha gave a great start to the home side by picking up Rishabh Choubey for 9 in the fifth over of the match. Rabha ended the day with 3 wickets giving away 36 runs. Left-arm spinner Abhinav Choudhury too chipped in with two crucial wickets despite being expensive.

However, it was the 125 run partnership for the fifth wicket between Rohera and Khan that resurrected the innings which was once tottering at 81-4. While Ajay (69 n.o.) is still at the crease with Arjun Patel (2 n.o.), Salman got out towards the end of the day after playing an innings of 74 runs to his name.
