Mohilary tables surplus BTC Budget

KOKRAJHAR, Feb 26 - BTC Chief Hagrama Mohilary today presented the Council�s Budget for the year 2019-20 projecting a surplus of Rs 42.5206 crore. The Budget proposed a total estimated expenditure at Rs 2312.6228 crore against the total estimated receipt of Rs 2355.1434 crore.

Presenting the Budget on the first day of the two-day BTC Legislative Assembly Budget session that began today at the BTC Legislative Assembly House, Bodofa Nwgwr here Mohilary, who is also the head of the Finance Department, said that the Council is committed to achieve the growth target as per the Plan allocation.

Mohilary said that a budget provisionshave been made for Rs. 671.7810 crore being SOPD allocation for BTC, Rs. 300.00 crore under one time special grant, Rs 50.00 crore for infrastructure development of BTC, Rs 11.04 crore for rehabilitation grant to ex-BLT cadres outside BTC at Rs 2 lakh and Rs 16.50 crore for administrative grant to BTC besides establishment expenditure have been provided in the State Budget entrusted subjects for a sum of Rs 3095.7203 crore for the year 2019-20.

Out of the total SOPD allocation, the maximum amount is allocated to the Department of WPT & BC to the tune of 14782 lakh. However, no such allocation has been made from SOPD for BTC administration as per the grant wise statement.

He also stated that under the leadership of Chief Minister of Assam, BTC has been provided with multiple financial grants and this Budget will definitely address the endeavour for a model BTC through economic, social, educational as well as cultural progress of the 33 lakh people of the BTC area to transform it to a vibrant BTC.

Mohilary also thanked the Government of India for several developmental projects to be initiated this year in the BTC area which includes running of a super fast train in the name of Aronai Express, development of Bodo medium cum language and cultural study centre, modernisation of AIR and Doordarshan Kendra in Kokrajhar among others.

Mohilary said that the council has emphasised more on the Public Works Department followed by Health, Education, Forest, Tourism etc.
